COUNTY: Charter review needs independent Jankanish
Re: "88 running for chance to rewrite Pierce rules" (TNT, 7-19).
Thank you, News Tribune, for your comprehensive and revealing article about the Pierce County Charter Review Board election. Who knew so many interest groups were angling to gain influence on that board?
Learning what I did from the article reinforces my preference for one candidate for District 7, Position 2: Mike Jankanish. He's not beholden to anyone. His independence and deep knowledge of the workings and issues of government make him a perfect candidate for this position.
Jankanish has taught advanced placement government classes in Tacoma for years, served as department chair for the social studies department at Wilson High School and served more than two years on the Tacoma Human Rights Commission.
While he is well grounded in the principles of politics and government, Jankanish would bring a practical, down-to-earth approach to the challenge of making county government work for the citizens of Pierce County and not the already-too-entrenched interest groups that wrestle over control of our politics.
Jankanish is a deeply honorable candidatewho values the principles which have allowed us to build the country and community where we live.
