PAY: TNT editorial reads like red-baiting
Re: "Tax credits: A better way to help working poor" (editorial, 7-19).
Has The News Tribune editorial board now taken up red-baiting? I hold a graduate degree in political theory, and you will have to explain to me why a $15 per hour minimum wage proposal is "Marxist flavored." I studied much of Marx's writings and think he would be just as perplexed as I am.
What I find as interesting is your neo-Liberal solution: Let the taxpayers pick up the tab for low-wage employees who are often working for mutibillion-dollar corporations.
Like Scrooge you ask, "Are there no food stamps? Means-tested welfare benefits? And isn't the earned income tax credit designed to help them? $15/hour? Bah, humbug!"
Maximum profits for the rich and stick the public with the cost of any human damage. Now Marx actually did write about that more than 150 years ago!
