ABORTION: I stand with Planned Parenthood

Re: “A glimpse into Planned Parenthood’s backroom” (Charles Krauthammer column, 7-24).

Once again, Planned Parenthood is under attack - all because some people have chosen to obsess over the one procedure that no one likes but that the facts of life make impossible to avoid - abortion - and use it to present Planned Parenthood as some kind of evil, mutilated-fetus-trafficking organization.

To me, Planned Parenthood is exactly what its name says. Let’s remember that just a few generations ago, women had about as much power over their reproductive lives as rabbits.

The moment information and contraception become available, women and couples choose en masse to take advantage of it. Why? Because planned parenthood - that is, deciding when and how many children one is willing to care for and can afford to feed - empowers parents to care better for all of them.

Once again, Planned Parenthood’s opponents have resorted to tactics that are deceptive, to say the least. But once again, people who believe in the work this organization does will stand by it.
