EDUCATION: Levy fine on lawmakers, not taxpayers
Re: “$100,000 per day fine over schools” (TNT, 8-14).
I’m sure the Washington Supreme Court meant well in levying this fine, but as we all know it is the taxpayer who will end up paying.
To make sense, the fine should be levied against the collective wages and benefits of the Legislature - and make it nonrefundable. That would get their attention.
I sometimes wonder if everyone is unaware that you get what you pay for. This applies to schools and transportation, too.
