TACOMA: Why focus on city's darkest hours?
Re: “Tacoma’s darkest days” (TNT, 9-13).
Oh, groan. Isn’t it enough that Tacoma is already so identified with bad air, street crime and other distasteful images by our friends up north that we now have the displeasure of a book that memorializes more fodder for the Seattle media?
Must we now somehow celebrate loser pilots, train wrecks, sinking ships and trees crashing on cars, in addition to that very tired and stale Narrows Bridge collapse - all to enable Tacoma to be further stigmatized with negatives? The folks up north will certainly be placing this book on every newsstand, visitors bureau, library and coffee table to celebrate Tacoma!
This joke is on us. When will we stop beating up our beautiful city?
