ELECTION: Harbaugh offers leadership for schools

As a former military spouse, I have spent many volunteer hours in school districts across the United States. As an early childhood educator, I appreciate the critical importance parent/school partnerships play in our education system. That’s why I was thrilled when Leslie Harbaugh announced her candidacy for Peninsula District School Board.

I served on the Parent District Council with Harbaugh. I was continually impressed with her abilities to find consensus on controversial issues by listening carefully to all sides before finding common ground.

Harbaugh has volunteered in numerous capacities across the district for more than a decade. We have all seen her smiling face at school events. She has been tireless in forging positive relationships with teachers, principals and fellow parents. Her commitment to our public school system has been demonstrated.

This is a critical time for our school district. We need people who support fiscally responsible solutions to the problems our students and staff will be facing - overcrowding and staff support to name a few. We also need board members who recognize the need for visionary leadership as we move forward.

I believe Leslie Harbaugh is the candidate to provide that leadership.
