PUYALLUP: Heavy backpacks put kids' health at risk
There is a dangerous health risk in the Puyallup School District. The high schools do not have lockers, so students have to carry around heavy backpacks all day long, and to and from school; most are in excess of 30 pounds. Multiple students have spinal and musculature issues because of carrying this weight all day.
The school district needs to do something about this and implement either electronic solutions, books in classes to share or extra sets to keep at home. Other school districts have implemented solutions to solve this, why can’t Puyallup?
I have started a petition on change.org (search for PSD) to gather support for this issue and the comments that people have left stating the damages this issue has caused their kids/students are staggering. Please take a moment to support our students.
