POLITICS: Women aren't such strange bedfellows

Re: “What is a rhino in the wild really worth?” (Michael Gerson column, 10-14).

Gerson’s column on conservation was excellent and reflects my hopes for saving the Earth and all its inhabitants.

He advocated bipartisan support for “encouraging creative conservation leadership.” He then says Republican Kay Granger and Democrat Nita Lowey are “strange bedfellows” in leading this effort in the House of Representatives.

I don’t think it is strange at all, because the representatives are women. In areas of governing that require empathy and compassion, I am not at all surprised that these two can work together.
