Re: “Needed: More water for everyone in Yakima Valley,” (editorial, 10-14).
I’d like to point out a few items concerning the editorial on the importance of water for the Yakima Valley.
First, there’s no mention of conservation in the editorial. The News Tribune writes about “older proposals” wanting to raise dams and make reservoirs bigger, then goes on to explain the new proposal will raise dams and make reservoirs bigger. How about an explanation on how those proposals differ? And just how does raising these dams help fish runs, when we’re removing dams for the same reason?
To be fair and impartial, perhaps the paper should also print the report from the State of Washington Water Research Center that shows this project as a huge money loser.
