ELECTION: Harris already has served Peninsula

I would like to urge everyone to vote for Marcia Harris for the Peninsula School Board.

I was a school board member from 1995 through 1999. We had failed four levies in two years, and hard choices had to be made.

The best choice we made was to bring Harris on board as chief financial officer. She later rose to the rank of assistant superintendent.

Harris worked tirelessly to bring credibility back to our school district by creating an audit committee of community members, with the job of looking over all our financial decisions and making recommendations regarding future levies and spending plans. She created the school district’s first transparent financial reports, honestly telling residents how their levy dollars would be spent and then reporting back on where their tax dollars were going.

No one knows more about school finance than Harris. Because of her hard work, credibility and knowledge, we were able to regain the reputation of being one of the best school districts in the state.

I trust her judgment and wisdom. Please join me in voting for Harris for Peninsula School Board.
