Elizabeth (Liz) Burris is the absolute best choice for the Pierce County Charter Review Commission. She epitomizes the servant leadership needed to be a good participant in the review process.
Burris served in the Army for 30 years, including leading a command of 300 in the Gulf War. She taught at the University of Puget Sound, guiding students to become occupational therapists. She currently chairs the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council, increasing its membership and activities.
The Army made Burris a strong leader. Teaching made her an excellent listener. Chairing a neighborhood council showed her how to put her activism into viable actions.
Burris exemplifies citizen leadership at its best, exactly what is needed for the charter review commission.
