Traffic: Sharing the road doesn't always work out

Lately I’ve been reading more and more about drivers and bicyclists sharing the road. It’s my opinion this situation equates to a nuisance for drivers and bad news for bicyclists.

All too often I see bicyclists riding on the street whether there is a bike lane or not. Even during rush hour traffic I’ve seen cars bunching up ahead of me, and then I realize that the cars are one by one trying to get around a bike. And almost always the rider is an adult who should know better than risk his or her life like that.

Regardless of the legality of such a situation, when a car, truck or bus hits a bicyclist, the bicyclist will always suffer the worst. Most bicyclists are responsible and sensible when riding, but some clearly are not..
