Wages: Military members earned those benefits

Re: “Why is income so low in Pierce County” (letter, 11-26).

It appears that the writer has a sore spot in her heart for the U.S. military.

I do not see the connection of base exchange and commissary use and Pierce County wages. Perhaps she needs a reminder of the sacrifices the U.S. armed forces have made throughout history to ensure our freedom.

Maybe she could move to King County or, better yet, spend time in the military and make those sacrifices.

I am a retired Air Force chief master sergeant from two wars who earned the benefits she writes about and take offense to her remarks.
