Military: Sikh soldier knew what the rules were

Re: "Army relaxes rules to allow Sikh his beard" (TNT, 12-24).

My father, three of my brothers and I served honorably in the military for almost 50 years. When we signed on, we all realized what the regulations were.

Now, after more than a hundred years, several billion men and women having served, the military is expected to do an about-face to accommodate a few.

It isn't like the captain went into the military not knowing what was expected of him.
