YMCA: Gender policy was needlessly imposed
As longtime YMCA members, we regret the YMCA’s interpretation of its “we do not discriminate” policy. It should be obvious that it does discriminate against children, girls and women in particular.
The concern of a mother for her children using shared gender identity locker rooms, showers and toilet facilities is a fear that has been, in our opinion, needlessly imposed by the YMCA.
This YMCA policy has “spinned” what was considered “indecent exposure” to “decent” if it takes place in the YMCA locker or shower rooms. We believe a solution could still be made to meet the concerns of all.
