Chamber: Brackett built reputation for integrity
Re: “Chamber head sees potential - if Tacoma works together” (TNT, 1-4).
The recognition of Gary Brackett’s service to our community is well deserved. For 37 years he has worked tirelessly at the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber to build and nourish the economic health of Pierce County.
He built a reputation for integrity and setting the spotlight on others. I witnessed his patience, tenacity and skill in persuading SeaLand to relocate to the Port of Tacoma. His ability to build relationships with SeaLand was pivotal in our success.
Brackett has given our community an example of public service that others will emulate. He deserves our thanks.
(O’Malley, a retired Pierce County District Court judge, served on the Port of Tacoma Commission for 16 years and on the County Council for six years.)
