Oscars: Easy to boycott if you're not nominated

Re: “Academy snubs stir more responses” (TNT, 1-20).

The lack of diversity in the Oscar nominations is really an old argument that goes as far back as the 1960s, before Sidney Poitier was nominated for best actor in “Lilies of the Field” (1964).

Maybe Jada Pinkett-Smith wanted to create a buzz due to the fact that her husband Will Smith has yet to win an Oscar, because she knows how this industry works. Of course, it’s easy to skip the Academy Awards ceremony if you aren’t nominated for anything, but it will be interesting to see if any white celebrities, although supportive of the boycott, will miss the spectacular gala event in their designer haute couture outfits.
