Bethel: District facilities need voters' support
As a parent (and grandparent) of four Bethel School District graduates, I wholeheartedly encourage support for the Feb. 9 bond election.
I can remember when my oldest child was in a “year-round” school system due to overcrowding. How far we have come! The district’s efficiency and cost-effectiveness in deployment of new and remodeled facilities from previous bonds has been exemplary.
As well as the other needed work, I especially appreciate the plan to replace Challenger High School. I’ve seen this alternative school inspire many young lives on the road to success, and it deserves a new home rather than aging portables.
It’s most important that we have good buildings to teach our kids, but other uses - especially for community recreation, services and assembly - makes Bethel unique by the added value its facilities create here in unincorporated Pierce County. The proposed aquatic facility fills the bill, and our community will benefit as well.
Please support the Bethel bond Feb. 9
