CPark: What district doesn't tell the public
According to the Clover Park School District, the levy on the Feb. 9 ballot is not a new tax, it’s a replacement levy.
I am a supporter of education and have always voted for the levies and bonds for Clover Park. What I don’t like is for the district to hide the facts. Why is it not upfront that this is a tax increase for every property owner?
The previous levy was $4.48 per $1,000 of your home value. The new tax replacement levy is $4.76 per $1,000. How is this the same?
Why didn’t the district just put out the real cost to the homeowners? If the cost increases, then it is a new tax.
I wouldn’t mind paying the extra if the district were being honest with me, but when it hides the facts and is not honest it makes me wonder what else it is not being honest about to the public.
