Tacoma: Is methanol plant a done deal?

The question-dodging tactics of Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland and Port Commission President Connie Bacon (TNT, 2-4) create the impression that the proposed methanol plant is a done deal behind curtains.

Their refusal to clarify the decision-making process, or at least let people know where they can read about it, is infuriating. So is Bacon’s disingenuous suggestion that approving a lease for the plant was not part of the process.

Adding fat to the fire is Bacon’s rhetorical question aimed at protesters: “When are you going to stop driving your car?”

Wow! A triple-pronged fallacy! I ‘ll use that in my Writing Arguments class for a long time. We deserve better.
