Lindquist: Rein in rogue prosecutor
After reading the latest articles about the Pierce County prosecutor’s office, it occurs to me to ask when and how action will be taken to rein in Mark Lindquist.
This will cost the county much more than the numbers already bandied about. For instance, Lindquist’s appearance on a TV show (TNT, 2-23) and discussion of a case currently in litigation may not have resulted in a mistrial, but it certainly will result in an appeal. The county will then have to expend funds to defend the appeal and, if it is granted, to retry the case.
The number of cases where this occurs in Pierce County is already much higher than it should be.
In addition, Lindquist’s actions are lining up the civil suits against his office. Even if all of these are without merit, it will cost the county a fortune to defend them.
There are numerous investigations in process of the office. All of these require time and money to defend.
As a taxpayer, I hope that someone would recognize the enormous damage all this is doing to Pierce County. A rogue prosecutor such as Lindquist should not be tolerated any longer.
