UPlace: Vote against another property tax increase

Enough is enough! I am retired, and my property taxes are my largest household expense. I have lived in University Place for more than 22 years.

Over the years, my property taxes have gone up and occasionally down a little, but this year they went up more than 10 percent, higher by hundreds of dollars than they have ever been. In comparison, my house value increased less than 2 percent this year.

If voters approve formation of a metropolitan park district, my property taxes could go up another $300 per year. That’s with no further voter approval.

Formation of a metro park district in University Place is a bad idea and will likely lead to additional solicitations for funding in the future.

Please vote no and keep property taxes affordable for retirees, seniors and everyone else who loves living in University Place.
