UPlace: The mud and the muck
In recent years, University Place City Council members spent huge amounts of money travelling to the U.S. Open - not once, but three times. It spent even more on consultants, signs, banners, plants and beautification to promote our city during the U.S. Open.
They spent hugely for animal control, entry rugs, private security services, fleet purchases with warranties, maintenance, insurance, repairs, decals, yellow lights, dump truck, bottled water and employee chair massages.
Yet they can’t seem to find a single line in the budget to reduce spending and respect the fact that we simply can’t give more to support a separate metropolitan park district.
The city has determined that the only course of action is to publicize our budgetary woes throughout the region, dragging us through the mud and the muck, devaluing our community, tearing us apart in a battle to preserve community activities and our senior center, undoing every dollar spent, wasted or not, to promote our city. This damage can’t be undone.
Please vote no and demand accountability, innovation, hard work, budget combing and restructuring. More from us is not the answer.
