Election: A write-in vote is a wasted vote

Re: “Democrats have the write-in option” (letter, 4-1).

Urging Bernie Sanders supporters to write in his name in the general election if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, or urging Clinton supporters to write in her name if Sanders is the nominee, is in reality urging Democrats to waste their vote.

It will not mean that their “voices will be heard”; it means their vote will not count. It means they are throwing away an opportunity to vote against the Republican nominee and his stands on foreign policy, domestic policy, economic policy and social policy.

Voters who truly approve the Republican positions should go ahead and cast a write-in vote. Those who don’t support their views shouldn’t waste their vote.
