Festival: Randolph's a great choice for grand marshal

Well-deserved kudos to Olympic gold medal winner Leo Randolph for being selected as a Daffodil Festival grand marshal (TNT, 4-5).

But more impressive than his 1976 boxing achievement is his humility. In an age when athletes are prone to making everything about themselves, Randolph stands out as an exception.

He wonders why “anyone would want to see me out there.” Well, perhaps it’s because he is a perfect role model for our youth of today. He is well known for volunteering his time and energy in many Tacoma/Pierce County activities.

There should be a gold medal for that as well.
