Bethel: Bond request is too expensive

After reading information on the Bethel School Bond and talking with officials about the aquatics center, we cannot support it.

We’re not sure how many voters know this, but if the bond is approved, not only will the taxpayers of the district be coughing up $236.7 million, they will also have to pay approx $5 each time they want to use the pool. At four times a week, that’s $960 a year.

We understand not being able to use the pool only when students are not practicing, competing, etc., but paying an additional $5 each time someone wants to use it is very expensive. You can join a fitness center for less. Charge that for out-of-district users, not the taxpayers who funded its construction.
