Transgender: Respect for others missing today

Anti-discrimination laws serve a great purpose, but the laws appear to be contradictory. The anti-discrimination laws and the right to freedom of religion appear to be at odds.

If you are a Muslim, a Jew or a Christian and you operate a business, you should be able to rightly refuse business to someone if their requests directly oppose a basic tenet of your faith. Freedom of religion means not having to compromise your faith at the will of a monarch or your government.

I try to be sensitive and respectful toward all people. I expect the same in return. That mutual sensitivity and respect is not present in today’s controversy.

The bathroom/shower room issue make no sense. Males should use rooms for males, and females should use rooms for females. If I saw a male go into a female restroom, my wife was in I would not be pleased. I would call 911 and then confront the male. We do not want things this to happen.

Simple common sense and mutual respect is missing in today’s society. And the laws have got to be clear and sensible as well for all people’s sake and benefit.
