Marijuana: Pot contributes to dumbing down of our youth

A recent letter to the editor (TNT, 4-21) claimed the use of marijuana is beneficial, which parrots the rationales of the users and the dealers who are becoming rich selling pot.

Pot drug sales have always created jobs and wealth while crippling human beings and creating environmental problems.

One national pot catastrophe has not been discussed locally: the dumbing down of our youth. Years ago my high school boy was a top student in high school and hard-working and joyful outside of school. Then, pot took him and his “friends.” He quickly went to the bottom of his class academically.

It wasn’t cool to excel in school. His only motivation was the next high from a pot party held in a secret location. My son’s experience in school of years ago has continued to this day. In my opinion, legalizing
