Mansion: Don't blame problems on new neighbors

Re: “Weyerhaeuser estate still searches for modern purpose,” (TNT, 5/10).

As a neighbor near the estate, I appreciate the judge’s reversal of the hearing examiner’s decision. His recognition that an event venue “is not in harmony” with the neighborhood is valid. The property may never be a single-family dwelling again, but a business that intrudes upon the enjoyment and value of properties around it would not be a good fit.

However, what was the purpose of the paragraph in the story that quoted the Realtor referencing “new neighbors?” These neighbors moved in at the same time the number of events ramped up from one to two every few months to three to four per week. The events changed from small affairs to weddings of up to 200 people. It seems to me the Realtor was either completely unaware of what was happening or chose to ignore the problems and blame it on the “new neighbors”. It seemed unnecessary to malign these people.
