Republicans: It's not too late to salvage the future
An open letter to the Republican party: Wow, this election cycle has had some surprises for you, hasn’t it? But really, how long did you think it could last? How long did you think you could tell your constituents that you supported their interests, while you pursued policies that supported the interests of your deep-pocket donors?
You knew all along that those interests were in conflict, but you convinced yourselves that if you postured for the rank and file with “conservative” causes, they would stay in line. The recession changed that, and in the past two years, things have gotten worse.Voters want the kind of change that feeds them and pays their rent. You don’t deliver on that.
What America needs now is leadership with a vision for the future that works for all of us. You have found such leaders among your ranks in the past, and you can find them again. The future of this nation depends on it.
