Bathrooms: Transgender permissiveness is slippery slope

Re: “US Directive Roils Bathroom Debate” (TNT, 5-14). The math does not add up.

Problem: Apparently only .03 percent of Americans are transgender. Some of these folks are evidently uncomfortable utilizing their biologically oriented restroom.

Solution: Displeased, the Obama Administration is therefore instructing all public school districts to allow transgenders their choice of restroom.

Complication: This policy will make the overwhelming majority of Americans, particularly young girls, uncomfortable sharing their facilities with the opposite sex.

Once a refuge for the fairer gender, the girls/ladies room will be open territory to anyone, whether they are truly transgender or not.

The Supreme Court has yet to rule on this issue. Nevertheless, the Obama Administration has dictatorially sent out a 25-page directive to already beleaguered school districts. Does not Obama, and public education, have anything better to do?

Where will this political correctness end? Will a boy who identifies as a girl be offered a college dorm with co-eds? Will a biologically male athlete be allowed to compete on a female team? Will high school guys who claim they are transgender gals use the girls’ locker room? How far will this go?

Sure, transgenders have rights. What about everyone else?
