Tax breaks: Small businesses should benefit, too

Washington state provides huge tax breaks and incentives to major businesses and seems surprised with the results - more tax revenue and benefits for the state. Here’s an idea: Unleash the power of small businesses and provide the same breaks for those that can’t spend millions on lobbyists and campaign donations.

As the owner of three small businesses, I say let’s help support mom and pop shops by getting rid of undue regulations, crushing paperwork and a tax code that requires an advanced degree in economics to figure out. Then watch what would happen - increased employment, increased revenue for the state, and an increase in start-up businesses. A business-friendly state shouldn’t be just for the top six companies. Try it and see what happens.
