Air travel: Suggestions for making it run smoother
Air travel today, even for the most veteran flyers, can be a frightful experience. Long lines, three-hour early arrivals, body searches, etc., can cause the bravest of passengers to think : Why didn’t I take Amtrak? What if passengers were allowed only what they were wearing when boarding their flight? (Medical devices might be an exception.) All carry-ons, luggage etc. would be checked and would follow immediately, on a separate aircraft.
The benefits of these changes are that check-ins would be brief, and security agents few. The safety and the fear factors would be much improved. Who knows, it just might work.
