Memorial Day: Flags should be at half staff perpetually
It is my understanding that the American flag is flown at half staff as an observance of respect and national grief whenever someone of “importance” to our country, usually a government official, dies. Our combat fighters deserve that same respect, every day. Not just on Memorial Day or Veterans Day (two more national holidays which have been allowed to degenerate as an opportunity to sell more cars, living room furniture or kitchen appliances).
The flag should be at half staff and remain at half staff, as long as this country is involved in a shooting war and soldiers of this country are dying in that shooting war.
