Regulation: Soda taxes, bag bans make no sense

Re: "Soda taxes finally find their fizz," (TNT editorial, 6/21).

The News Tribune suggests we are about to embark, yet again, on the issue of sugared drink taxes. Soft drinks are not illegal. They may be considered unhealthy but that doesn't stop the sale of tobacco or alcohol.

Seems unfair that we just pick and choose what we want to claim is either unhealthy for us or harmful to the environment. We're concerned about plastic bags from the grocery store, which many people reuse. Give me the opportunity to vote on a ban of disposable diapers; those nasty things that will be in our landfills for generations to come.

We have dishwashers, garbage disposals, microwaves, washer/dryers and the list goes on. If you don't have time to wash diapers, perhaps you should take a closer look at your time management skills.
