Charter review: Roach should be allowed two jobs

Re: “Ban on 2nd office heads to fall ballot,” (TNT, 6/17).

Time and money is being wasted on this issue. Placing it on the ballot is a maneuver to prevent Sen. Pam Roach from representing citizens who would love to have her as their senator and council member. Why should voters of Pierce County prevent an individual from becoming a representative of another council district?

Additionally, why should voters prevent an individual from having a part-time job and a full time job? The job as senator and representative in Olympia is part-time, and the job of council member is full time. We should not be voting to prevent employment or, more important, attempting to prevent representation by keeping an individual from fulfilling both jobs.

One may not like Pam Roach, but the voters of the 31st District like her representation. Voters of that Senate district and Council District 2 should have the right to vote for whom they want. It is extremely wrong and wasteful to attempt to prevent it. The Pierce County Charter Review Commission certainly had more important issues to consider.
