Marijuana: White House should let states decide

Re: “The next president could be a pot buzzkill,” (TNT, 6/21).

The article mentions that the next U.S. president could eliminate all of the nation’s pot shops with the stroke of a pen. That same pen could also sign legislation that shows this should be a state jurisdiction issue, not federal.

If the next president can’t understand the issues surrounding marijuana, he or she should leave it up to the states, and let them figure it out themselves. Reclassifying it on the federal drug schedule is only good sense. Anybody who thinks marijuana is as bad as heroin needs to get educated on the subject. Move on to something important.
