Property taxes: Little value received for rising payments

I received my real property value notice today from Pierce County. I don’t live in a palace, but the county assessor must think I do. The assessed value on my 1,900-square-foot home went up 11.33 percent in just one year.

I don’t see a lot of capital improvements in Pierce County, or a great rise in the repair and maintenance on a lot of our really shoddy roads. Last week there was another drive-by shooting one block from my brother’s house. Where are they spending all this increase? It can’t be schooling. The children coming out of our schools are not being well educated. Many are reading and doing math far below the national level. From what I see in the news, criminals receive better treatment than many people in our society.

We are being stiffed by our government. No wonder people are so disgusted everywhere. We’d better wake up before it’s way too late. Stop voting for every project that some wacko politician supports. We’re going broke.
