Tourism: Why not run local buses to Mount Rainier?
School’s out, and many tourists are in the Puget Sound region. An option to build up tourism in Pierce County that is thus far overlooked would be to assign several Pierce Transit buses a day to connect from the Federal Way Park and Ride via Northwest Trek, the Elbe Steam Train (when running) and on to the southwest entrance to Mount Rainer National Park.
A savvy local might also entice park officials to allow a minibus from the southwest gate to the Paradise area. Some local jobs would be created and services upgraded in the interest of both the county and the state.
