I-515: Newspaper must take firmer stand
Where is the opinion of The News Tribune on the discriminatory Initiative 1515?
I asked the TNT this week if they were going to editorialize on the issue and they said “We chimed in last week with a call for civility while also opining I-1515 is a throwback to the Jim Crow era.” Asked if they were going to take on I-1515 itself and not just “civility” with a footnote on declining to sign, they said “We’ve been bogged down with nonstop primary election interviews lately.”
Certainly they found plenty of time to lecture the LGBTQA community faced with the third popular vote on their civil rights in seven years, all while failing to express moral outrage about the pro-1515 campaign encouraging male signature gathers to follow women into bathrooms.
I was told I could submit a letter to the editor, and here it is. TNT, your silence is deafening and it certainly has not gone unnoticed by the LGBTQA community. Speak up now, please!
