Bag ban: Hardship on the poor, old and disabled

I am old and crippled. I buy groceries in Tacoma and then have to carry them up a flight of stairs at home. I have to use the handrail so I only have one hand for groceries.

The plastic bags make getting groceries home much easier. Paper tends to tear unless you roll the top over a few times. Handles on paper bags rip off if you have cans, jars, or bottles. The expensive, reusable bags drag on the stairs.
