Shootings: Empathy could lead to solutions
In light of the horrific events in Baton Rouge, Minnesota and Dallas, we need to take a moment to look inside ourselves and ask, "What can I do?"
First, we should try to empathize with what it must feel like for a 21-year-old black man being stopped by the police for a broken tail light, as well as the difficulties of being a police officer. However, I hope we can all agree that having a broken tail light should not be a death sentence.
I'm not quite sure what the answer is, but we need to start looking immediately. Too many people have died, and waiting until tomorrow just isn't acceptable.
