Cheney: High prices are a strikeout with fans
The owners of Cheney Stadium should be ashamed. Corporate greed has taken hold and replaced the community feel of minor-league baseball. When I was growing up, Cheney was a place to go watch future stars, former big leaguers, and current big leaguers on a rehab assignment. It was an affordable way to see big names mixed in among the regular joes on the field.
Not today! The ownership’s mission is to utilize every method to suck every dollar out of the common fan. Parking was always $5. Oh, but wait, let’s charge more on the weekend. Oh, but wait, let’s move our parking sign down the street and charge to park in a lot that is not even ours. It’s all about suites and party decks now, too.
If you want an inexpensive ticket, you don’t even get a seat. Plant yourself on the grass.
Way to stick it to the community, Rainiers. This fan is out!
