Food: Co-op closure leaves other options

Re: “Tacoma food co-op closure surprises members, customers,” (TNT, 7/19).

Like many, I was disappointed to read of our 6th Avenue Co-op closing. It was a great resource for the community and I hope they are able to find a new site soon.

Tacoma doesn’t have enough options for local fruits and vegetables, but one alternative that still exists is our farmers markets. The 6th Avenue Farmers Market operates every Tuesday on Pine Street, and supports small farmers and business owners in the South Sound and Central Washington. Like the co-op, our vendors depend on community support, and I invite you to join us every week.
