Election: Truth telling is casualty of presidential politics

Many in this country are criticizing both presidential candidates about their willingness to spin things and stray from the truth. Assuming neither of them is incompetent or mentally challenged, why do they both shy away from being honest and up front?

Surely it can’t be the fault of the very electorate who chastises them, can it? Can it be that politicians have learned the hard way that too many people can’t handle the unvarnished truth?

Sadly, it’s a rare person who wants to hear what he doesn’t want to hear.
