Jesus: Actually, he did have a political agenda

Re: “Jesus for president? His principles show the way,” (TNT, 8/1).

Rev. Bates Olson’s viewpoint column seems to indicate Jesus had no political agenda while historical evidence makes a very good case that is exactly why the Romans murdered him.

The Gospel we heard this week at Mass (Luke 12:13-21) clearly demonstrates that while Jesus may not have been “concerned with votes,” he most certainly had a social political agenda.

“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions. You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong? Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves but are not rich in what matters to God.”

This is the exact opposite of what I heard Donald Trump say the other night in an interview.

Who does Rev. Bates Olson believe Jesus would be voting for?
