Election: Local races give reason for optimism
“Tenor of local candidates outshines national debate,” (TNT, 8/21).
Thank you to editor Karen Peterson for her commentary about the experiences of the News Tribune Editorial Board in interviewing candidates running for office in the November election.
I was surprised and pleased to read that she thought the candidates were knowledgeable, earnest, smart and respectful of each other. It gives me reason for some measure of optimism about politics and government, at least on the local level, after experiencing dismay, fear, anger and incredulity over the presidential race.
