Education: Repurposed old school is great idea

Re: “Tacoma’s newest high school centers on industrial design, art, engineering,” (TNT, 8/24).

I’m so happy to see the old Park Avenue School building back in action.

I went there kindergarten through 4th grade. I remember roller skating in the basement at recess, learning to square dance in Miss Wheeler’s 4th grade class and being sent out the door as a second grader in January 1950 to walk home in the big blizzard.

I was home sick the day of the April 1949 earthquake, so I missed that big event at school.

Best wishes to the students and faculty of IDEA high school.
