State parks and wildlife areas to close Wednesday following the governor’s order

All state-managed parks, wildlife areas, and water access areas will be closed for at least two weeks starting Wednesday, March 25, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.

The closure is in response to Gov. Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order issued Tuesday evening.

Entrance gates and facilities will be closed, and on-site public services will be suspended. Essential staff will be present to protect resources.

The state Department of Natural Resources will also close all public lands it manages — nearly 6 million acres — to the public starting Thursday, March 26, until at least April 8. This includes trails, trailheads, roads, and day-use areas.

The state already announced Sunday that all state campgrounds across Washington would be closed until April 30.
