Fire ban issued at Mount Rainier National Park. Here’s what we know

The National Park Service will implement a park-wide fire ban at Mount Rainier National Park starting Tuesday, June 10.

The ban comes amid dry conditions, downed trees and high temperatures at the park. It is an effort to prevent human-caused fires, according to a release from the park service. The ban applies to the entire park, including the White River Campground and Cougar Rock Campground.

“The ban also supports regional incident management efforts by reducing the need to draw from limited firefighting resources,” the release states.

The ban cover any campfires, barbecue grills, fire pits and more. Heating devices, lanterns with liquefied or bottled fuel and portable stoves will be allowed as long as the devices can be turned off, the release states.
